Show Me Your Investment Summary
Wednesday, 11 November 2009

The investment summary is a roll-up of your entire business plan. The focus of the summary is the business's past achievements, not future goals. The entire summary should be able to be delivered to the investors within a 30-minute presentation.

The investment summary should be the last section you draft in the business plan. By doing the homework, research, and analysis to prepare for the full business plan, you will be better able to respond to investors' questions regarding the details of your business strategy. Circumventing this work will only do the project, the business, and the investors a disservice.

As brevity is cherished in an investment summary, look for ways to condense information. Charts, graphs, bullet point lists all help to encapsulate vast amounts of information into a quickly understandable medium.
